I’ve been harboring some pretty strong opinions about the so-called “Ground Zero Mosque,” although, to start, not one word in that descriptor is factually correct. The proposed Muslim community center, which will have a place for prayer, is actually located two blocks away from the World Trade Center, in a building that most recently was a Burlington Coat Factory (sacred ground indeed!). Also mind you, the Manhattan community board has already voted in favor (by a large margin) to allow the community center to be built. Mayor Bloomberg’s comments on the issue have even been inspiring… which is something I never thought I would say.
